Sustainability
Climate ChangeAt CPLP, we have been working to reduce our effect on climate change for decades. We believe that by using renewable raw materials, reducing fossil fuel use and by continuously improving our production process, CPLP will significantly reduce carbon emissions and other environment impacts. Our primary raw material, wood, is both renewable and recyclable. Sustainably managed forests play a primary role in the mitigation of climate change in that they sequestrate CO2 from the atmosphere and store it as carbon. This carbon is further stored in our products. CPLP’s paper products can be recycled several times over. Click here for more information on CPLP’s Carbon Cycle. Bio Energy From Wood Waste Sawmills produce both wood chips and hog fuel waste as by products. In the past, the hog fuel was burned in beehive burners which emitted both carbon and fine particles into the air. Beehive burners have been phased out throughout BC and most of the hog fuel waste is now transported to cogeneration facilities or pulp mill boilers where it is burned to make electricity for use at the pulp mills or for sale externally as renewable electricity or environmental attributes sold as renewable electricity credits. Using waste to produce energy has significantly reduced CPLP`s fossil fuel use. |
